FAQs

College Apps FAQs

How many hours should my student book a week?

Most seniors book 90 minute sessions, twice a week to ensure they are prepared and for optimal results prior to application submission deadlines.

When should my student be starting the college application process?

It is best to start as early as they can. The earlier the better. What students don't realize is that the college application process moves faster than they think. Time flies. Deadlines creep up very quickly, especially when you're also distracted with school. It is best to start in June or July before school starts. This gives students the time they need to book sessions with me and work through as much of their essays as they can before school starts and they have to worry about other work.

How long does the college application process take?

The minimum amount of time you should expect it to take is three months and that is if you are already cramming everything. Early action and decision due dates are in November and sometimes December. Regular decision are mostly due in January. You should plan for it to take six months for optimal results.

How many hours does it take to do an essay?

It varies. It could take up to 10 hours. It could take more. On average, it take about 10-15 hours just to complete the common app essay. My goal is to ensure that your students' essays are the best they can possibly be. Supplemental essays also vary. If the school is asking for a 650 word essay, you can expect it to take just as long as the common app essay.

How many students do you work with a year?

In a year, I work with no more than 20 students, but during the college apps season, I only take on about 15 students. This ensures that I have enough time to give each student the attention they need to succeed.
